Mesothelioma Awareness

By znnw, 2010/01/19 10:34

In today’s society, some people have no clue what mesothelioma is. In slang term, it’s a form of meso-asbestos, which builds up as a harmful cancer in human lungs. Going extended periods of time without treatment from this related disease can cause death, or irreversible health conditions.

How is this killer cancer contracted? Experts in this field who study the treatment, legal aspects, and the toll taken on humans would potentially say it infects a person through improperly ventilated air ducts in buildings. Some would also say personnel who improperly perform their abestos job function may also leave people vulnerable to catching mesothelioma.

This form of cancer can be nutritionally addressed through natural methods. People in earlier centuries resorted to earthly foods, such as fruits and vegetables to rejuvenate the body of adversity. Today’s technology allows folk to juice their fruits and vegetables, in making nutritional tasks easier to perform. Research shows that certain fruits and vegetables, when consumed in abundance uncooked, that it may have a potential reverse effect of the growth of cancer cells. In fact, drinking raw fruits and vegetables after juicing contains billions of live food cells that revitalize the body to a positive extent. In conclusion, no matter what the level of mesothelioma is in the human body, potential supplementation with fresh juiced fruits, vegetables and “colloidial trace minerals” & herbs may potentially reverse any anything felt adversely from this deadly cancerous disease. Herbal supplementation may also potentially assist. This advice is not intended to diagnose, treat or cure. It is specifically to be taken as free will advice.

Mesothelioma – A Cancer You Shouldn’t Have Had to Deal With

By znnw, 2010/01/19 10:34

Mesothelioma is a type of cancer that is caused by exposure to asbestos. This disease attacks the protective lining that covers most of the body’s internal organs and in almost all cases is fatal, although new treatments for cancer are always underdevelopment giving us hope we may live cancer free sometime in the future.

You can avoid mesothelioma by not exposing yourself to asbestos. Typically a worker was exposed to asbestos on their job. In the past asbestos was widely used in the large industrial manufacturing industry, the automotive industry and the heating and ventilating industry. Typical exposure is from inhaling asbestos dust a by product of manufacturing. When the worker goes home, their family experiences secondary exposure to the asbestos dust on their clothing.

In residential construction during 1960’s and 1970’s, asbestos was commonly use to seal leaks and seams on heating ducts in residential houses and in other heating and ventilation systems. Exposure to asbestos dust comes when the asbestos seal begins to breakdown and gives off the deadly asbestos dust particles. So, if you are buying an older home, be certain to have it inspected for asbestos. If found, asbestos can be removed or sealed with a protective cover to prevent exposure to humans.

Detection of mesothelioma and drawing the connection between work-related hazards wasn’t always realized. It has only come to light recently that large corporations were negligent in exposing their workers to asbestos dust. This is due to the fact that it takes some time for the cancer to form. Most families were so consumed with helping their loved ones; they failed to realize the cancer they were battling was actually caused by the working conditions of a loved one.

If an individual was exposed to asbestos during their working career then the corporation employing them is at fault and is responsible for the damages resulting from the asbestos caused mesothelioma. Individuals and families battling this cancer and facing the loss of a loved one need realize and understand their legal rights.

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with this disease then you need to consult with a mesothelioma lawyer to understand your legal rights. This type of lawyer is experienced with asbestos related cases and taking on the large corporations and winning. Typically, a mesothelioma lawyer will review your case at little or no charge to evaluate if you have a case. If it is determined you do they will handle the lawsuit for damages from the corporation responsible.

It is a shame to think your life or a loved ones life is cut short due to the negligence of a corporation not controlling the exposure to asbestos. You may be uncomfortable with a lawsuit, but it is your legal right to seek adequate compensation for your life or a loved ones being cut short and the resulting impact of not being able to provide for the family any longer.

Asbestos caused mesothelioma is a preventable disease and it’s sad to think an employee who works hard for a corporation is actually killed slowly by the exposure to asbestos. If you’re dealing with this cancer in your life, seek the help of a mesothelioma lawyer to ensure your financial future peace of mind while you and your family deal with the loss of a loved one.

Removing Your Acoustic Asbestos Ceiling

By znnw, 2010/01/18 19:07

You don’t want your acoustic asbestos ceiling any more because it collects dust and cobwebs and is difficult to clean and it loses its color with age. So what do you do with it? Remove it all? That’s the solution – remove the whole asbestos ceiling. You need to get rid of it al in one fell swoop.

Before you remove that terrible old ceiling, just make sure whether or not it has asbestos in it. The ceilings of houses that date back to about 1950, in fact most houses built before1970 may have asbestos, a type of fibrous substance that is known to be a contaminant that causes cancer and other disorders that are related to the lungs.

It is not an easy task to determine whether your ceiling contains any asbestos by just taking a look at it. In order to be sure about the content of asbestos in your ceiling it is very important to make an asbestos check and decide on the removal of acoustic asbestos ceilings. If the asbestos tests are negative, it is still worth it to take precautions in the removal of the acoustic asbestos ceiling.

The wearing of a respirator is very essential. Asbestos is easily airborne and the inhalation of these fibers could enter the lungs and that may cause damage and even cancer sometimes.

Wear eye protection even though most of the diseases that are caused by asbestos are due to inhalation of the fiber, nevertheless the exposure of the eyes or the skin to the asbestos fibers may be harmful and cause unpleasant effects. Asbestos warts are one of the diseases that are asbestos related and are caused when the skin is exposed to the mineral. Make sure to inform everyone at home about the removal of the asbestos ceiling, as this will help him or her maintain their distance and have minimum exposure to the risks that are related to asbestos. After you have ensured the safety of your family, consider the actual steps that are involved in the removal of the acoustic asbestos ceiling.

The removal of the acoustic asbestos ceiling is a very delicate process. It is best to leave the procedure to a licensed contractor to ensure its safe removal as this will require expertise and the ceiling’s surface must be made wet prior to removal. The ceiling is made wet before removal so the fibers in the asbestos sheets do not become hazardous by becoming airborne. Asbestos fibers are actually 1,200 times tinier then human hair, so it is difficult to see if the fibers are present in the air or not. So wetting of the ceiling is usually done as a health precaution before the ceiling is removed.

As the surface of the ceiling would be made wet, you must protect the furniture and the floors of your house. Remove all furniture and make sure to use plastic to cover everything and the floors before you remove the ceiling. Just a bit of caution and the removal of your ceiling could be done with minimum risk.

Is There A Mesothelioma Cure?

By znnw, 2010/01/18 19:07

Let’s see if we can determine whether or not there is a mesothelioma cure. In this day and age it can seem absurd that there are no cures for cancer let alone a mesothelioma cure. Mesothelioma is a cancer, and as such, there is no true “cure” for it yet. However, if the disease is caught early, various treatment options can not only extend a patient’s life, but also their quality of life. While the traditional survival rate for those diagnosed with mesothelioma is often set at eight to 12 months, more recently, a five year survival rate of some has increased substantially. This goes to show that treatment and drugs to battle mesothelioma cancer has increased and improved dramatically in the last few years. This may be due to the fact that more is known about mesothelioma cancer now than it ever was before.

However, there is still much to be understood about this aggressive disease. While the common diagnosis for mesothelioma is that it is indeed a form of cancer, not all researchers are in agreement. So as of yet there are no mesothelioma cure that has been developed; however there are things that people can do to ease any symptoms that they have. Your doctor or health professional will be able to help ease the symptoms and make the last few years or months a lot easier.

Some people think that mesothelioma cancer is a viral infection that has turned malignant. Thus, their prognosis is that the asbestos fibers which cause the disease could possibly activate an already present common virus infection, and eventually cause a variety of clinical conditions for the patient. While many of these clinical conditions may appear to not be harmful, in benign pleural effusions researchers don’t typically find what is known as a pleural cavity that is then full of asbestos needles. Consequently, researchers either aren’t culturing for the right agent, or they need more time to conduct broader research about the true nature of Mesothelioma.

Finally, here are some known medical facts that are not particularly common about Mesothelioma cancer:

? It is extremely rare for the Serosal membranes to be malignant other than with Mesothelioma cancer.

? It is not asbestos dependent.

? It is not smoking related.

? It only really happens when there is evidence of pleurisy.

? The latency period is longer than any other known malignancy.

While these facts contain specific, medical, terminology which some may be unfamiliar with, it is important to present the terminology as it known; scientifically. While the personal diagnosis, or that of a loved one, with mesothelioma can already seem like a devastating occurrence, it is important for people to educate themselves more specifically about such terms. This will assist both the patient, and their loved ones, to better understand the disease they are battling, and to more effectively communicate with their physicians regarding mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma Can Mimic Heart Disease

By znnw, 2010/01/18 19:07

Doctors don’t always come up with the right diagnosis. If they make up their mind that a condition is X, it’s hard for them to think about other explanations–sometimes even in the face of evidence that contradicts their initial idea.

Diseases of the chest and the lining of the chest cavity (the peritoneum) can be very hard to diagnose. In one study a woman was found to have an artery blocked. Doctors assumed a heart condition, even though 3 months earlier she’d had fluid drained from her chest–one very important sign of mesothelioma. Doctors then performed a surgical procedure that removed the membrane surrounding the woman’s heart, hoping this would give her some relief. At that point, when they examined the cells they’d removed, they finally reached a correct diagnosis that she was suffering from mesothelioma in the lining of her heart (pericardial).

Normally a biopsy is the best way to diagnose mesothelioma, but malignant mesothelioma cells can look like other kinds of cancer. Tumor tissue that’s removed during biopsy must be submitted to special laboratory tests and, if necessary, examined with an electron microscope to confirm a diagnosis of mesothelioma. The important part is to have a physician who considers all the possibilities when you describe your symptoms.

If you know someone who has ever been exposed to asbestos fibers at work or elsewhere, and they suspect they may be having a heart problem, do them a favor. Help them find a physician who knows about all of the various symptoms that asbestos-related diseases can cause. Mesothelioma is a terrible disease, but with proper treatment some patients are able to gain extra time with loved ones.

FAQ’s About Mesothelioma and Answers From a Mesothelioma Attorney

By znnw, 2010/01/18 19:07

Question: Are certain individuals more likely to develop illness from exposure to asbestos?

Answer: Yes. There is an increased risk of developing asbestos-related illness if a person worked in an industry requiring constant, prolonged exposure. These individuals include many factory and construction workers, as well as ship builders, miners, automotive brake mechanics, and anyone else who worked with insulation materials.

There is no level of harmless exposure to asbestos. Even small doses can cause illness that becomes manifest many years later. Yet, some who worked around asbestos never develop illness. While some scientists believe that certain individuals are genetically more able to withstand exposure, no one has been able to identify an asbestos-resistant gene.

Question: Asbestos has not been widely used since the 1970’s. How can there be any current risk of asbestos exposure?

Answer: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates that over 700,000 public buildings in this country still contain asbestos. This number includes approximately one in ten existing school buildings. Thus, the threat posed by asbestos exposure continues to haunt innocent citizens.

Question: My exposure to asbestos happened years ago. Have I run out of time to make a claim?

Answer: This is an important question. In asbestos cases, the Statute of Limitations, or time limit for making a legal claim, depends on the state in which you live. Your time to make a claim certainly starts to run, once a doctor diagnoses you with an illness. For that reason, talk with a Michigan asbestos lawyer about your rights immediately.

Question: I do not have mesothelioma, but I have been diagnosed with another form of cancer, and I was exposed to asbestos. Could the cancer be related to asbestos exposure?

Answer: Just as asbestos exposure increases the risk of lung cancer, there are also studies that link asbestos exposure to increased risk of other cancers, including cancer of the colon, kidney, larynx, pancreas, and esophagus. If you believe asbestos played a role in your illness, you should consult a doctor and contact a Michigan asbestos lawyer today.

Question: I know that the company where I used to work has declared bankruptcy, supposedly due to asbestos litigation. Should I even bother to pursue a claim?

Answer: Many law firms are fighting to challenge bankruptcies that corporations try to use as a shield against financial exposure to asbestos claims. You should talk to a Michigan asbestos lawyer by submitting a free, confidential consultation form today to determine the status of claims against the particular company that you believe is responsible for your illness.

Question: What is the difference between pleural mesothelioma and peritoneal mesothelioma?

Answer: Pleural mesothelioma occurs in the chest cavity and involves the lungs. It is the more common form of mesothelioma cancer. Its symptoms include chest pain, shortness of breath, coughing, and perhaps rapid weight loss or persistent fever. Because these early problems may indicate other illnesses, a doctor may have difficulty making the initial diagnosis. If you are experiencing these symptoms and believe you may have been exposed to asbestos, you should notify your health care provider immediately.

Peritoneal mesothelioma develops in the abdominal cavity. This form of mesothelioma progresses more rapidly and is more deadly. However, early diagnosis and an individual’s response to treatment are important factors in combating the disease. The symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma include nausea, vomiting, and swelling of the lower extremities. Individual symptoms vary and may not all be present. If you are experiencing these problems and were exposed to asbestos in the past, you should see your family physician.

Question: Does mesothelioma always mean cancer?

Answer: In very rare circumstances, it is possible to have a benign (non-cancerous) form of mesothelioma, which is known as cystic mesothelioma of the peritoneum. But in most instances, mesothelioma is a malignant disease.

Question: Just because I worked with asbestos, does that really mean that I am at higher risk of mesothelioma and other illnesses?

Answer: Unfortunately, a report in the New England Journal of Medicine indicated that asbestos workers were 344 times more likely to die from mesothelioma than the average population. Other studies also show a clear connection between asbestos exposure and serious illness.

If you or a loved one suffer from asbestos related cancer or mesothelioma cancer, talk with an experienced Michigan asbestos lawyer today.

Asbestos in Children’s Toys

By znnw, 2010/01/18 19:07

Asbestos in toys. Asbestos in duct tape, in spackle, and sealer. In December 2007 asbestos was found in the childrens toy, “The CSI Fingerprint Examination Kit” as well as two brands of children’s play clay. Where else can asbestos be found? Vinyl flooring, duct wrapping on heating and air conditioning systems, roof shingles and home siding, ceilings (where it has the textured, bumpy look). EEEK, I grew up with that. Wall and attic insulation and sheet rock compound to name a few.

O.K., some of the products mentioned were produced between 1920 and 1970. However, the shocking truth is that asbestos is still being used in consumer products today, in 2008! Do you do gardening? If so, NEVER use a product with vermiculite in it. Vermiculite is a mineral that is usually contaminated with asbestos. Vermiculite has been used in potting mixes, brake pads, acoustic tiles, and insulation.

What about collecting antiques? Coffee pots, irons, toaster and blow dryers have contained asbestos. One blow dryer called the ” Rocket Blower” was used in beauty salons until it was recalled in 1979.

Talc, yes the stuff in baby powder and cosmetics could contain asbestos. On June 22, 2000 in the Seattle Post Intelligencer, Andrew Schneider’s article ran about the asbestos contamination in Talc.

How do we know that our baby powder, ceilings and toasters do not contain asbestos? We don’t. Many homes built before 1980 contain asbestos. It can be in the vinyl floor tiles, ceiling tiles, roof shingles, insulation, pipe cement, and joint compound. Some newer houses may also contain asbestos.

Asbestos can be found in many public places. Two of our recent national tragedies come to mind…9/11 and Hurricane Katrina. When the World Trade Center collapsed, it sent a large amount of asbestos dust into the air. The first responders and citizens breathed in that dust. Many folks have developed lung problems, and some have already died. Hurricane Katrina clean up efforts had to be halted due to the presence of asbestos.

Why is existence of asbestos such a big deal? It is a big deal because thousands and thousands of people have died from asbestos exposure. Asbestos fiber’s are breathed in when mixed with dust. The fiber are like little razors. They can cause significant scarring of the lung tissue leading to a disease called asbestosis. Breathing asbestos fiber’s can also lead to a form of lung cancer called mesothelioma. The ONLY known cause of mesothelioma and asbestosis is breathing in asbestos particles. Scientists have stated that NO amount of asbestos exposure is safe.

So why? Why do products still contain asbestos? Why isn’t there more information available for the public to learn about the danger of asbestos? If you are outraged by this, you may click on the link to my site, and sign the online petition to completely eliminate asbestos in all products.

Kevin Trudeau’s 10 Things To Avoid in a Diabetic Diet

By znnw, 2010/01/18 19:07

Diabetic dieters often complain that losing weight is one of the hardest things they’ve ever done. Many say they’ve tried every fad diet or latest medically-proven way to lose weight, yet they lose little and sometimes get sick.

With so much bad advice going around, Kevin Trudeau, author of the New York Times best-selling book, Natural Cures, and late night spokesperson seen everywhere, offers suggestions for losing weight and become healthier by closely reading the ingredient list on food packaging.

Here are 10 things the author says should be avoided, if you want to lose weight on your diabetic diet, without giving up your health:

#1 Don’t eat anything you can’t pronounce

Trudeau’s belief is that if you can’t pronounce the ingredient, it is a harmful chemical. He believes that big food companies have lobbied the government to allow chemicals to be accepted as “all-natural”, allowing them to pass off low cost, deleterious ingredients as good for you.

#2 MSG

Monosodium Glutamate, also known as MSG, is often found in prepared foods. Trudeau warns that you should stay away from this ingredient because it makes you fat, increases your appetite and is dangerous and deadly.

#3 Aspartame

Aspartame, also known as NutraSweet, is found in many foods and beverages today. Trudeau believes that it makes you fat, increases your hunger, causes depression and leads to PMS and migraines.

#4 High Fructose Corn Syrup

This one is particularly dangerous for diabetics. High fructose corn syrup or HFCS is more calorie dense than sugar and robs your body of chromium, a trace mineral that helps regulate healthy blood sugar levels. Diabetics should try to avoid consuming this product.

#5 Hydrogenated or Partially Hydrogenated Oil

This ingredient, also known as a trans fat, has gotten a lot of bad press lately. It’s a dangerous ingredient in many foods, currently being removed or banned by cities or states because of its dangerous side effects. Found in many foods, diabetics should try to keep this out of their diets.

#6 Sugar

Trudeau notes that sugar is bad enough by itself for its high caloric content. But also states that most sugars contain harmful chemicals used in the growing and processing of sugar cane that are bad for your diet and health.

#7 Natural and Artificial Flavors

Trudeau points out that because foods are so heavily processed, they lose their natural flavorings. Depleted of most nutritional value, processed foods and beverages require chemical additives (he believes cause you to become hungrier when you consume them) that mask these nutritionally depleted foods.

#8 Palm Oil

Referred to as a “deadly oil” it’s cheap for manufacturers to add to your food, but has deadly effects on your body.

#9 Sucrose-Splenda

A new sugar substitute, not unlike NutraSweet, Trudeau believes it to be deadly and make you fat.

#10 Enriched Bleach Wheat Flour and Enriched Bleached White Flour

Contains no fiber, depleted of most nutritional value and chemically processed, this ingredient has little food value left in it, when it arrives on your store shelf.

Most nutritionists recommend that when shopping to stay in the outer ring of the store. This ‘fringe’ area is where most of the nutritious food products, such as produce are found.

Once consumers delve into the inner aisles, they become overwhelmed with processed food and beverage that’s loaded with MSG, HFCS, Sucrose-Splenda, and other harmful, fattening ingredients.

For diabetic dieters, it’s best to stay on the supermarket fringe area for healthier, weight reducing food.

I am in my 20’s and am losing hair

By znnw, 2010/01/18 19:07

When a man in his 20’s discovers that he is losing his hair it is likely that he is experiencing androgenic alopecia (male pattern baldness) which is the most common reason for hair loss and balding. Treatment options such as Propecia and Rogaine are the best options for this type of hair loss and when used together, give you the best chance at treating baldness and stimulating new hair growth.

When a man starts to lose his hair at such a young age it is likely that there is a family history of male pattern baldness, and the person will often see himself looking like his bald dad in a few years time. The most important first step is to consult a physician who is knowledgeable about hair loss. Once a diagnosis of male pattern baldness has been made, just know that there is hope. With medications like Propecia and Rogaine, the progression of hair loss can be slowed down, stopped, or in some cases reversed.

Dealing with hair loss in young men can be very challenging. Most friends likely have not started losing hair yet which makes it even worse. Frequently, men who begin noticing hair loss in their late teens will bald rapidly through their early 20s. Studies of Propecia showed that 90% of men who take Propecia regularly did not progress in their balding. Why not use a medicine that can prevent that from happening 9 times out of 10? One of the primary reasons men who know about Propecia don
